Description
One of the crucial anchors of mise-en-scène, production design includes practically all inanimate aspects of the frame – interior spaces, set dressing, props. This course teaches students basic principles of design for the screen, set construction, prop-making, set decorating, aging, and effects. Students study notable films and production designers, previous aesthetic movements, and incorporate their knowledge in their own designs, both conceptually and practically. Students will collaborate with each other on designing and constructing sets, as well as design, source, and fabricate materials for individual assignments and projects.
