MT Voice & Theory II

Description

This course aims to synthesize the elements of musicianship, vocal function and text/score analysis into the performance of musical theater. Student work in class will culminate in a public showcase spotlighting the work of the first-year musical theater co-hort. Students will, first, break down the components of vocal function in order to understand the mechanics of singing. Students will also begin building their audition books in preparation for fall season auditions. In addition, students will merge the skills learned in musicianship and text analysis into the practice of deciphering the acting clues presented in a musical score. Finally, students will incorporate those skills into performance of material
