Concept Art for Games

Description

This studio introduces students to principles and practices of creating concept art for the development of digital games. During the course students will explore how illustration and design are used to generate art concepts for game development and the integral role concept art plays in gamemaking. Students learn the responsibilities and creative practices of a concept artist through studio exercises and three prompt-based projects: an object concept (e.g. item, device, vehicle) for integration into an existing game, an environment (location, level, map, interface) redesign concept, and an original character or creature concept that includes lore and gameplay designs.
